Enson Garcia - Green & Gold Male Athlete for February

Men’s Basketball forward Enson Garcia, Bronx, NY, was named Male Athlete of the Month in February. Garcia, a Liberal Arts & Sciences: General Studies major at Herkimer College, averaged 17 points, eight rebounds and three assist per game in February. Those averages were up from his season totals of 14 points, seven rebounds and three assists per game. Known for his three point shooting when on the court - currently eighth in the nation in three-point makes with 88 - Garcia also makes a living on the boards, accumulating nine games with 10 or more rebounds, finishing the season with seven double doubles. This presence was ever present during the Region III Championship when Garcia scored a season-high 27 points, hitting four three pointers, earning himself Region III Tournament Most Valuable Player. His 50 percent shooting from deep against Clinton was the 11th time in 32 games Garcia shot 50 percent of better from three in a game.

Garcia’s Head Coach Matt Lee commented on Garcia’s accomplishment by saying, “Enson has been a great leader for us this season. His maturity on the court has helped some of our players grow tremendously. I look forward for his success to continue this week at Sullivan County Community College, the host of the 2014 National Tournament.”
