Herkimer Baseball signs 12 Standout Student-Athletes

Herkimer, NY - Herkimer has gotten a quick jump on next season, signing twelve 2019 graduates to attend Herkimer next year. Herkimer will need to replace a loaded 2019 team with multiple players completing their second seasons this year. These players are expected to have a big impact next season. “The quality of this class reminds me a lot of the class that is leaving, high quality student athletes with a good talent set as well. The work Lane Potter has put into this class is really incredible. We are excited to work with these guys to help them get to their next step and help them achieve all of their goals moving forward,” stated Head Coach Jason Rathbun.

Griffin Yastremski- Bath, NY

Griffin is a big powerful left-handed hitter that can have an impact in the middle of the lineup right away next year. Griffin has spent most of his time in the OF and will look to replace one of three graduating outfielders this season.

Brad Sakellarides- Center Moriches, NY

Brad is a strong offensive catcher who also hits in the middle of a state champion lineup. After his state championship win, Sakellarides continued swinging a hot bad through the summer placing on the Perfect Game all-tournament team twice. He will look to replace a graduating all region catcher.

Daveas Espinal-Monroe, NY

Daveas is a sure handed left-handed hitting shortstop from Monroe-Woodbury HS. Daveas possesses a plus arm and has the ability to make every play, that the position requires. Daveas should have an impact from day one and has the ability to hit at the top of the lineup in the near future.

Ethan Duda Albany, NY

Ethan is a talented two way guy from Albany Academy who has competed in the class B state final four the past two seasons. Duda has the ability to throw meaningful innings right away while continuing to improve on the other parts of his game. Duda plays travel ball for the Upstate O’s out of the Albany area who has produced some of the best talent Herkimer has had.

Ryan Packard- Oneonta, NY

Ryan is a talented RHP that has the ability to pitch meaningful innings right away.  Packard’s 2017 summer campaign included MVP at the Randy Naylor Classic and logging over 50 innings (with 68 k’s) for Oneonta Post 259. Packard also lead the team with 6 Complete Games, and 6 wins.

Trey Miller- Rocky Point, NY

Trey is an outfielder from Rocky Point HS who has produced some quality players for the Generals the past few years. Trey is a gifted athlete with elite speed with offensive pop with the bat as well.                                                                  

 

 

Ethan Patch- Whitehall, NY

Ethan is a LHP from Whitehall HS. Ethan’s has a quality three pitch mix and has pitched meaningful innings the past two postseasons for Whitehall. Ethan’s baseball knowledge and competitiveness will push the staff to get better every day. He also provides a smooth swing and could see some time at first base.


Collin McAndrew’s- Whitesboro, NY

Collin is a RHP from Whitesboro HS. McAndrew’s emerged last summer for Whitestown Post 1113, leading the team with strikeouts and complete games. Collin’s possesses a huge upside and with his projectable frame, could become a dominant force in the near future.

Rylie O’Connell- Peru, NY

Rylie is a RHP from Peru HS. O’Connell is a decorated three sport athlete with an impressive high school career. On the baseball field Rylie is a three pitch pitcher with the ability and determination to keep increasing his velocity, while redefining his craft. Among many recent awards, O’Connell has won the Pitcher of the Year for the Clinton County Mariners organization the past two seasons.

Robert Conley, NY

Robert is a strong armed catcher and first basemen from Proctor High School. His plus frame and competitiveness will provide instant depth and as his bat progresses he can become a mainstay in the Generals lineup. Robert led his team to the 2018 NY state legion tournament and will lead the Proctor Raiders this spring

Matt Kanyuk, Half Hallow NY

Matt is a senior catcher at Half Hallow Hills East and will provide instant depth and stability to the catching position. Matt’s plus frame and his intangibles will allow to grow through the program

Austin Barnao, Whitehall, NY

Austin is an athlete with a strong arm. Austin comes from Whitehall HS who has a strong team and should be one of the top teams in their section this year. Austin plays SS and is a very good athlete on the field. His best ability is throwing hard and will look to get time on the mound as well.
