Herkimer Baseball Players earn All-Region and All-Conference Recognition

Herkimer, NY – The Herkimer Generals Baseball team had multiple players earn spots on the 2019 All-Region team as well as the All-Mountain Valley Conference teams. The Generals currently have a record of 35-4-2 and have earned the #4 seed in the upcoming NJCAA Division III World Series in Greeneville, Tennessee.

Sophomore first baseman Brian Forbes (Rocky Point, NY) earned the Mountain Valley Conference Player of the Year award for the Generals and Coach Jason Rathbun earned the Coach of the Year award. The Generals, who won the Mountain Valley Conference this year with a record of 15-0-1, placed sophomore catcher Matt Parkinson (Whitesboro, NY), sophomore centerfielder Brandon Kruzinski (Schenectady, NY),  sophomore pitcher Ben Wager (Johnstown, NY), and freshman pitcher Dale Stanavich (Amsterdam, NY) to the All-Conference first team. Sophomore second baseman Vito Castronovo (Utica, NY) was named to the second team.

Forbes, Wager, Kruzinski, and Castronovo also received Region III First Team honors. Stanavich and Parkinson earned spots on the Region III second team and Kruzinski was named to the All-Glove team for his defensive play in the outfield during the season.

Herkimer plays #5 Oakton in the first round of the World Series on Saturday, May 25th at 4:00 PM.
