Generals drop Game 1 of World Series to Oakton

Greeneville, Tennessee - The #4 seeded Herkimer Generals fell behind early and could never recover as they dropped their first round game in the 2019 NJCAA Division III World Series to 5th seeded Oakton Community College by a score of 11-2 in 7 innings on Saturday evening in Greenville, Tennessee. The Owls, the defending National Champions, got 2 in the first and then scored 9 runs over the final 3 innings to pull away and secure the win. 

Matt Parkinson (Whitesboro, NY) add 2 hits and an RBI's while Cam Collett (Saratoga Springs, NY) added and an RBI double for the Herkimer scoring. Ben Wager (Johnstown, NY) took his first loss of the season, allowing 5 hits and 4 earned runs over 4 innings of work.

The Generals now have to battle through the loser's bracket in the double elimination tournament in the hopes of winning the Championship. That process starts on Sunday with a game against 8th seeded Rhode Island College. Game time in Tennessee is slated for 1:00 PM EDT.
