Herkimer College's Lane Potter named NJCAA Division III Assistant Coach of the Year by Baseball America

Herkimer, NY - Herkimer Baseball Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator Lane Potter was named The 2019 NJCAA Division III Assistant Coach of the Year by Baseball America. The eleven honorees will be recognized in Nashville, Tennessee during the annual Amateur Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) national convention on January 3rd 2020. “I’m very humbled to receive this recognition from the ABCA. They’re a first class organization, focused on the development of each and every coach. The ability to learn from some of the best baseball minds the last four years, has been pivotal in my growth and I’m very appreciative of the association”.

Potter began in the spring of 2016 and took over as the Recruiting Coordinator and Hitting Coach in the fall of 2017. Since then, the Generals have captured the Regional Championship and advanced to the NJCAA Division III World Series the past two seasons. Over that span, the Generals have finished in the top two nationally in Batting Average, On Base Percentage, Slugging and Triples. In addition Mike Wroth (12) and Brian Forbes (15) have broken and re-broke the teams Home Run record in the past two seasons.

 Coach Lane Potter states “First and Foremost, I want to thank Jason Rathbun for his guidance and friendship. Since day one he has took me under his wing, and his mentorship has been the greatest gift of my coaching career. I want to thank the men in our program past and present, the ability to work with them on a daily basis is why I entered this profession and why I continue to grow with the game. Lastly I want to thank the Herkimer College administration, faculty and staff. The support systems here allows our student athletes to chase their dreams while prepare them for their journey.
