Razz Region III Coach of Year

Herkimer baseball players earn All-Region and All-Conference recognition; Okamura and Rathbun named Player and Coach of the Year

HERKIMER, NY—Multiple players on the Herkimer Generals baseball team have earned spots on the 2021 All-Region team and the All-Mountain Valley Conference team.

Catcher Yuzuki Okamura (Shiga, Japan) earned the Mountain Valley Conference and Region III Player of the Year award for the Generals. He hit .447 on the year with four home runs and 47 RBI’s in 30 games played.

Coach Jason Rathbun earned the Coach of the Year award on both teams as well. This is the fourth time Rathbun has won the Region III Coach of the Year award and the seventh time he has earned Mountain Valley Conference Coach of the Year honors.

The Generals placed third baseman Dakota Britt (Rockwell, TX), pitcher Greg Farone (Schenectady,NY), designated hitter Anthony Raimo, Jr. (Altamont, NY), and outfielder Frank Wayman (Horseheads, NY) on the First Team All-Conference squad.

Farone and Raimo, Jr. also earned First-Team All-Region honors, along with second baseman Kyle Caccamise (Hopewell Junction, NY).

Outfielder Trey Miller (Rocky Point, NY) was named to the Region III All-Glove team and named Region III Defensive Player of the Year.

The 32-4 Generals won this year’s Mountain Valley Conference Champions and finished as runner-up in the Region III Final Four. Herkimer ended the regular season ranked No. 6 in the NJCAA Division III National Poll.
