Packard’s Perfect Game and Farone’s 1 Hitter Moves Generals to 13-4

Little Falls NY- On Sunday afternoon, The Jefferson CC Cannoneers traveled take on the Herkimer Generals at Little Falls Vets Park. Pitchers Ryan Packard(Oneonta, NY) and Greg Farone(Schenectady, NY) paced the Generals on the day racking up a combined 25 strikeouts without surrendering a walk or run in ten innings of work.

Packard finished the day with a perfect game, striking out 12 of the 15 batters faced. Packard’s perfect game was the last since May 1st, 2015 when Joe Nellis (Johnstown, NY) threw his masterpiece against SUNY Adirondack. Game 2 starter Greg Farone allowed only 1 hit on the day, fanning 13 of the 16 batters he faced.

Offensively the Generals were led on the day by Mike Gunning(Rocky Point, NY) who went 5-5 with 9 RBI’s, 2 HR’s, 4 Runs scored and 4 stolen bases. Trey Miller (Rocky Point, NY) finished the afternoon 3-4 with 4 runs scored, 3 RBI’s and 3 stolen bases. Dakota Britt(Rockwall, TX) added his 4th home run on the season in game two, while Gunning’s two home runs puts him at 8 on the season.

After the game, Ryan Packard said “It’s been a long three years of hard work and if feels great to be back on the mound. I’m just trying to give my team the best chance to win, when my time is called”. Packard moves to 5-0 on the season with a 0.45 ERA and 40 strike outs in 20 innings of work. The Generals move to 13-4 on the season and will host Columbia Green CC on Tuesday(5/12) at 2 PM.
