Generals Go 8-0 on the Week
Herkimer NY- The Herkimer Generals had a busy week playing 8 Region III games in 6 days. The Generals hosted Mohawk Valley CC on Tuesday, Adirondack CC on Thursday then traveled to Cayuga CC on Saturday before returning home on Sunday to finish the 4 game series against Cayuga.
The Generals jumped out ahead of MVCC in two mercy rule shortened games. The Generals won, 15-5 and 14-3. Trey Miller(Rocky Point, NY) led the way, going 4-5 with 5 runs, 6 RBI's and two home runs. Jovani Wiggs added 4 hits, 6 RBI's and 5 runs a home run and 4 stolen bases. Sal Carricato finished the day with 3-4 with 3 runs, 3 RBI's, 3 stolen bases and a home run. Dakota Britt went 4-7 with 3 runs, 2 RBI's and a home run. Generals pitchers Joel Hayner and Jake Lombardi picked up the wins on the day both striking out 11 in there outings.
On Thursday, the Generals continues there offensive outpour, topping Adirondack 15-5 and 11-3. The Generals were led by Dakota Britt who went 5-7 with 5 runs, 2 home runs and a stolen base. Kyle Caccamise added 3 hits and 5 RBI's for the Generals, with 2 runs scored and a stolen base. Ty Gallagher went 4-6 on the day with 2 runs scored. Drew Coelho and Luke Pusz picked up the wins for the Generals. Eddy Rogers, Austin Barnoa, Don Wille and Griffin Yastremski all had clean outtings, not surrendering a earned run on the day.
Saturday, Ryan Packard and Greg Farone got the ball for the Generals and didn't disappoint. Packard threw a 7 inning shut out, surrendering 5 hits and Farone struck out 18 in 7 innings, allowing 3 hits and 1 run. The Generals won 3-0 and 4-3. Kyle Caccamise went 4-9 on the day with 2 extra base hits and a RBI. Sal Carricato had 3 hits including a 2 run home run to pace the Generals.
Sunday, the Generals returned back home, topping Cayuga 9-8 and and 3-1. Dakota Britt finished the day 3-5 with 3 RBI's 3 runs and a stolen base, Trey Miller went 2-6 with 2 runs and a stolen base. Ethan Patch had a stellar start, striking out 9 in 7 innings of work. Patch allowed 1 earned run and allowed 2 walks in the complete game. Luke Pusz picked up his second win of the week, allowing 0 earned runs in 2.1 innings of work.
The Generals are back in action this weekend when they host Rowan- Gloucester for a 3 game series.
