Herkimer Men drop home opener to Hudson Valley

Herkimer, NY - Hudson Valley came into Herkimer on Saturday afternoon and came away with an impressive 102-72 win in the Generals home opener. The first loss of the year for Herkimer drops their overall record to 3-1 on the year and 2-1 in the Mountain Valley Conference. 

The Generals shot out to 12-6 lead in the first 4 minutes before Hudson Valley went on a big 17-2 run to grab a lead that propelled them to an eventual 48-27 lead at the half. Herkimer fought back to make it a ten point game at 53-43 before another big run by the Vikings put the game away. 

Senior Derrick Felder (Yonkers, NY) led the Generals with 23 points on the afternoon. Teshaun Beckles (Bronx, NY) pitched in with 13 points and Musa Pough (Brooklyn, NY) added 10 points in the loss. 

The Generals look to get back on the winning track on Tuesday as they travel to Dryden, NY to take on Tompkins-Cortland Community College Panthers. Tip off is set for 5:00 PM.
