Four Generals score in double figures against Panthers

(Anthony Laneri grabs the board, then scores two of his 10 on Sunday against TC3).

(A Julio Galay rebound leads to an assist from Enson Garcia to Jonathan Feiler on Sunday).

HERKIMER, NY – With nine players scoring on Sunday against Tompkins-Cortland Community College in the varsity gym, led by Jonathan Feiler (18 points) and Wendall Williams (17 points), the Herkimer Men's Basketball team won convincingly 82-56.

The Generals (7-2, 3-0 MVC) had a different attitude coming into today's game after losing on Saturday. Field goals by Wendall Williams (Syracuse, NY), Anthony Laneri (Port Jefferson, NY), Jonathan Feiler (St. James, NY), Enson Garcia (Bronx, NY) and Peter Clark (Utica, NY) in the first 10 minutes gave the team an 18-13 lead.

The lead quickly jumped to 11 (27-16) with four minutes left in the half, after two alley oops to Williams from Garcia, and a Feiler jumper from the baseline. The half ended on a 10-6 run by the Generals, capped by Clarke's second three-point field goal in the half, an assist by Garcia to Jason Foden (Dolgeville, NY), giving him is only basket of the game, and RaShawn Collins II (Harlem, NY) hitting a three as the clock struck zero on an assist from Julio Galay (Bronx, NY).

Consecutive 'and one' possessions by Laneri and Williams gave Herkimer a 20-point lead (62-32) in the second half with a little over ten minutes to play, then Jerrell Hunter (Utica, NY) also got in the mix, missing the free throw on an 'and one', almost giving his team a 9-0 run in the matter of two minutes. The lead ballooned to 26 (64-38), 28 (75-47) and 28 (82-54) in the final eight minutes with most of the starters on the bench. Making most of the opportunity was freshman center Andreas Vouliakis (Rockey, Point, NY), scoring the final seven points for the Generals, ending the game with seven points.

By games end, Garcia had 10 points, Laneri had 10 points, Clark had eight points, Hunter had five points and Charles Reese (Hartford, CT) had two points.

The Generals next game is on Wednesday, December 11th. They'll travel to Monroe Community College looking for pay back. The Tribunes defeated Herkimer at home (75-63) in their first regular season game. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
