Win streak 14 after Generals defeat Royals at home

HERKIMER, NY – Playing their last six regular season games at home after a cancellation on Tuesday (2/16), the #6 Herkimer Generals men’s basketball team went undefeated during the regular season at home, beating Schenectady County 80-59 in regulation on Wednesday (2/17) to end up 5-0 in the varsity gym.

Helping Herkimer (23-3, 15-0) to their 14th consecutive win of the season was the entire roster, getting points from everyone in 40 minutes of play against the Royals. Two players, Daniel Owens (Albany, NY) and Patrick Dorrian (Kingston, NY), scored in doubles figures, Owens finishing with 12 and Dorrian finishing with 11.

After those two, the Generals got points from 12 other student-athletes. Anquan McLean Jr. (Albany, NY) had the most with nine. Following him was Matt Dallas (Hudson, NY) with seven, Christopher Simmons (Utica, NY) with six, Kristian Mondesir (Queens, NY) with six, Todd Spottswood (Albany, NY) with six, Tyquan Scott (Long Beach, NY) with five, Tru Garland (Bronx, NY) with five, David McKenzie (Central Islip, NY) with four, Jacob Paulino (Latham, NY) with three, Justin Harley (Central Islip, NY) with two, Shomari Redd (Westbury, NY) with two and Timothy McKenzie (Central Islip, NY) with two.

Herkimer will play their final regular season game this Saturday (2/20) when they travel to play North Country at 1 p.m. The Generals are also undefeated this year against the conference (15-0). The last time the Twins played Herkimer they lost 97-87. North Country is 20-9 overall and 9-2 in their last 11 games. They’re currently the seventh best team in the Region III.
