Herkimer Men's Cross Country turns in strong performance at FLCC Invite

CANANDAIGUA, NY – Clearly on a mission based on the previous result, the Herkimer College men’s cross country team was out to make a statement at the Bruce Bridgeman Invitational this past Saturday at Finger Lakes Community College.

The men, despite the absence of two runners, including last year’s top runner (Andrew Yacobucci) were valiant nonetheless, and wound up finishing 3rd overall, 16 points behind host and winner Finger Lakes and only 6 behind Broome.

Leading the way for the Generals, once again, was Wakeem Medina (Schenectady/Schenectady, NY). His time of 29:45.69 was good for 3rd individually. He was joined in the top 10 by Lewis Lewis (Thomas R. Proctor/Utica, NY), who was 7th overall (30:48.86).

Rounding out the effort for the Herkimer men were Christopher Hardin (Rome Free Academy/Rome, NY), Michael Colombo (Pawling/Pawling, NY) and William Crews (Thomas R. Proctor/Utica, NY). Hardin was 13th overall (32:03.58), Colombo finished 26th (33:58.62) and Crews rounded out the Herkimer attack in 35th (37:13.30).

Herkimer returns to action in two weeks’ time (on Saturday 9/21) for the 7th annual SUNY Poly Wildcat Weekend Classic. Start time is scheduled for 10 AM
