Cross Country Competes at SUNY Delhi Invite

DELHI, N.Y. – A drop in distance led to another great result as the Generals competed well at this past Tuesday’s (10/8) SUNY Delhi Bronco Weekday Classic.

Despite the women being incomplete for the 4th time this season, all four lady Generals placed in the top 40. Lauren Horowitz (Washingtonville/Washingtonville, NY) led the way with a 31st place finish, with a time of 29:57.8 for the 5,000 meter course. She was followed shortly thereafter by Ellia Dannible (Cobleskill-Richmondville/Warnersville, NY) in 32nd (31:07.1), Alizee Embry (Thomas R. Proctor/Utica, NY) in 36th (37:23.6) and Gianna Durso (Notre Dame/Utica, NY) in 37th (39:15.9).

The men turned in a 4th place finish, but in a tight field dominated by SUNY Delhi (they swept the top 7 scoring places), they finished just 2 points out of 2nd. They were once again led by Wakeem Medina (Schenectady/Schenectady, NY), who turned in a 20th place individual finish. With his 5,000 meter time of 18:28.3, he earned his 2nd highest placing individual finish this year.

Following suit for the Generals were Lewis Lewis (Thomas R. Proctor/Utica, NY) in 27th (19:04.0), Andrew Yacobucci (Canajoharie/Canajoharie, NY) in 30th (19:46.1), Christopher Hardin (Rome Free Academy/Rome, NY) in 31st (19:46.7), Nick Kennedy (Central Valley Academy/Ilion, NY) in 34th (21:00.4), William Crews (Thomas R. Proctor/Utica, NY) in 40th (21:56.8) and James Briody (Cairo-Durham/Cairo, NY) in 45th (25:07.8).

This race concludes the regular season for the Generals. They return to action next Saturday (10/19) when they host the Mountain Valley Conference Championships.
