Herkimer Cross Country competes at SUNY Cobleskill Invite
COBLESKILL, N.Y. – The Herkimer Generals were back in action this past Saturday (9/11), as the cross-country teams competed in the Steven A. Warde Invitational hosted by SUNY Cobleskill.
In the men’s race, the lone finisher for the Generals was Chase Bowman (West Canada Valley/Little Falls, N.Y.). Chase covered the 8 kilometer course in a time of 37:06.19, which averages out to about a 7:28 pace per mile. The performance was good for 45th place in a field of 56 athletes.
The women’s team, after missing out on the opening meet, had their first showing of the season. Competing for the ladies were Kaylan Zysk (Little Falls/Little Falls, N.Y.) and Catherine Chapman (DeRuyter/DeRuyter, N.Y.). In a field of 41 runners, Kaylan finished an excellent 4th with a very good time 26:58.72, averaging to a pace of roughly 7:14 per mile over the 6 kilometer course. Catherine raced decently as well, finishing 39th with a time of 44:10, about an 11:51 per mile pace.
The Generals next compete on Saturday (9/18), as they are slated to travel to Canandaigua for the Bruce Bridgman Invitational hosted by Finger Lakes Community College.
