Three Generals Receive Metals at Warde Invitational
(Herkimer's Victoria Campanian finished second overall for the women on Saturday at SUNY Cobleskill).
(Freshman Jace LaPuma finished in 27th place for the men Saturday, posting a 34:08.0).
COBLESKILL, NY – The Herkimer Generals cross country program continued their season at the Steven Warde Invitational Saturday (9/6) on the campus of SUNY Cobleskill. The men finished sixth overall and the women finished fourth, seeing three award winners.
Standing out for the men again was Sam Morrett (Cohoes, NY). The sophomore finished in 16th place, only second to SUNY Broome’s Jack Hillenbrand in regards to NJCAA participants, crossing the finish at 33:12.6. Behind Morrett was Jace LaPuma (Little Falls, NY), Daniel Thomas (Coton, UK), Philip Tanner (Deposit, NY) and Jacob Hoggan (East Greenbush, NY). LaPuma finished 27th (34:08.0), Thomas finished 30th (35:26.8), Tanner finished 45th (39:58.6) and Hoggan finished 50th (42:49.9).
For the women, they had two runners metal. They were Victoria Campanian (Glenfield, NY) and Haruka Murakami (Ibaraki, Japan). Campanian finished in second place in the 5K, posting a 19:27.9, while Murakami finished in 14th place, posting a 22:23.6.
After Campanian and Murakami, Tianderah Twichell (West Winfield, NY) finished 30th, Alicia Burnett (Inlet, NY) finished in 32nd and Jessica Inserra (Yorkville, NY) finished in 42nd. Twichell posted a 25:04.4, Burnett posted a 26:30.5 and Inserra posted a 29:54.3.
The Generals next meet is on Friday, September 12th. They’ll travel to Canandaigua, NY. Finger Lakes Community College will host a meet at 4 p.m.
