Generals at full strength for 3rd Annual Wildcat Classic

UTICA, NY – The Herkimer Generals cross country program competed in their third meet of the season Saturday (9/26), this time at the 3rd Annual Wildcat Weekend Classic. Once the three mile and five mile courses were completed, the men finished in 12th overall and the women finished in fifth.

Taking the top spot for the men was Matt Manda (Scotia, NY). The freshman finished in 49th place, posting a 33:28. Rounding out the final four spots was Jamal Harris (Syracuse, NY), Taj Parker (Mount Vernon, NY), Daniel Coradin (Bronx, NY) and Jon Bryant (Syracuse, NY). Harris finished in 62nd (34:49), Parker finished in 91st (41:56), Coradin finished in 92nd (42:02) and Bryant finished in 94th (43:09).

As for the women, they finished in the Top 5 for the second straight week, led by Ashley Lynch (Cohoes, NY). The freshman posted her personal best of the season, a 24:03, which was good enough for 32nd place. Shiena Kimura (Tokyo, Japan) and Yu Inose (Tokyo, Japan) also had personal bests. Kimura posted a 25:24 and Inose posted a 27:49, good enough for 42nd and 60th place.

The final two women to cross the finish on Saturday were Jessica Malskis (Jay, NY) and Elazjah DeDeaux (Syracuse, NY). Malskis beat her best time by four seconds, while DeDeaux beat hers by five minutes and 15 seconds, helping Malskis to 65th and DeDeaux to 66th place.

The Generals continue their regular season in 11 days when they travel to Delhi, NY for the Annual Bronco Weekday Classic. The start of competition is scheduled for 4 p.m.
