Men and women finish third at Bronco Classic
DELHI, NY – With 10 days off the Herkimer Generals men’s and women’s cross country program used their fresh legs to place well at the Bronco Weekday Classic on Wednesday (10/7) at SUNY Delhi. Both team’s finished in third place which was the best collective placement this season.
Helping the men to their third place finish was Norman Clayton (Bronx, NY), Matthew Manda (Scotia, NY), Jon Bryant (Syracuse, NY), Taj Parker (Mount Vernon, NY), Daniel Coradin (Bronx, NY), John Alessi (Red Hook, NY) and Ricardo Carrillo Jr. (Utica, NY). Clayton finished in sixth place (17:43.60) - his best placement this season - following by Manda in 15th, Bryant in 23rd, Parker in 24th, Coradin in 25th, Alessi in 28th and Carrillo Jr. in 29th.
As for the women, they didn’t have as many participants, but three of the five runners finished in the Top 20. Ashley Lynch (Cohoes, NY) placed 15th (24:56.90), Shiena Kimura (Tokyo, Japan) placed 17th (26:09.40) and Yu Inose (Tokyo, Japan) placed 18th (28:14.70).
Outside the Top 20 was Elazjah DeDeaux (Syracuse, NY) and Jessica Malskis (Jay, NY). Both freshman finished in 22nd and 24th, posting a 32:01.40 and 32:20.10.
Herkimer will not have as much down time before their next meet, running at Hamilton College this Saturday (10/10). Competition is slated to begin at 10 a.m.
