Generals place well at Great Dane Invitational
ALBANY, NY – The Herkimer Generals cross country program competed in a 5K and 8K race Saturday (10/17) at SUNY Albany, seeing both the men and women finish 14th overall.
Running well for the men again were Norman Clayton (Bronx, NY) and Matt Manda (Scotia, NY), finishing one and two in consecutive meets for the Generals. Clayton posted a 30:03.6, while Manda posted a 30:35.2 for 131st and 138th place. Behind those two were Taj Parker (Mount Vernon, NY), Jon Bryant (Syracuse, NY) and Ricaro Carrillo Jr. (Utica, NY). Parker finished in 151st (37:42.2), Bryant finished in 156th (42:40.1) and Carrillo Jr. finished in 157th (59:50.0).
For the women, Ashley Lynch (Cohoes, NY) and Shiena Kimura (Tokyo, Japan) swapped places from their last meet. Lynch finished six places better than Shiena, running for 174th place thanks to a 23:58.7. Kimura finished in 180th with a time of 24:56.9.
Herkimer’s final two female participants were Yu Inose (Tokyo, Japan) and Elazjah DeDeaux (Syracuse, NY). Inose finished in 182nd and DeDeaux finished in 186th place.
The Generals next meet will be at Finger Lakes Community College, the host for the 2015 Region III Championship on Saturday, October 24th. Competition should be slated to begin around 10 a.m.
