All-American honors for Clayton in final meet
HOLYOKE, MA – Building off the momentum gained at the Region III Championship, Herkimer’s Norman Clayton added third team All-American honors to his list of accomplishments in 2015, placing 15th overall at Holyoke Community College on Saturday (11/8), helping the men finish 19th overall at the NJCAA DIII National Cross Country Championship.
Clayton ran a person best 28:40.3 during the five mile course. Joining him in competition was Matt Manda (Scotia, NY), Jon Bryant (Syracuse, NY), Daniel Coradin (Bronx, NY), John Alessi (Red Hook, NY) and Taj Parker (Mount Vernon, NY). Manda finished in 48th (30:25.3), Bryant finished in 145th (38:30.4), Coradin finished in 149th (41:13.5), Alessi finished in 151st (41:26.3) and Parker finished in 153rd (44:23.0).
As for the women - who finished better overall than the men - placing 14th, had five women run the 3.1 mile course in Massachusetts. Ashley Lynch (Cohoes, NY) finished 64th overall, posting a 22:13.3 which was another personal best this season after running 23:40.2 at the Region III Championship. After Lynch, Shiena Kimura (Tokyo, Japan) finished 79th, Yu Inose (Tokyo, Japan) finished 110th, Elazjah DeDeaux (Syracuse, NY) finished 126th and Mandi LaClair (Sherburne, NY) finished 129th.
