Visconti shines as Men's Golf opens season at Cayuga and Onondaga

Auburn and Syracuse, NY - Nicky Visconti (Little Falls, NY) took home first place in the Cayuga CC Invite on Friday and followed that up with a third place finish at the Onondaga CC Tournament on Saturday afternoon as the Herkimer Generals Men's Golf team opened their season last weekend under second year head coach Rick Salamone. 

On Friday at Highland Park Golf Course, Visconti shot an 80 for a 2 shot victory over Austin Carter from OCC. The Generals finished 4th overall as a team with Collin Williams (Newport, NY) scoring a 90, Jacob Darling (Dolgeville, NY) followed that with a 98 and Jacob Hazlett (Fort Plain, NY) chipped in with a score of 101. 

Saturday's match was at Timber Lakes Golf Course in Syracuse as Visconti followed his 80 on Friday with a 77 on Saturday, good for a third place finish. Hazlett improved 13 strokes from the day before to shoot an 88 and Darling also improved on his Friday performance to score a 90. Trey Randall (Mohawk, NY) had a score of 105 to help secure another 4th place performance for the Generals.

Herkimer now looks forward to a big weekend as they travel to Utica on Friday to participate in the MVCC Invitational and then host their own match on Saturday at Mohawk Valley Country Club. Start time for Friday's match is 10:00 while the Herkimer meet is scheduled for a 9:00 start on Saturday.
