Visconti wins Jefferson Invitational, finishes 2nd at Hudson Valley

Sandy Creek, NY and Troy, NY -  Nick Visconti (Little Falls, NY) had an outstanding weekend in leading the Herkimer Generals Men's Golf team in matches at Jefferson CC on Friday and Hudson Valley on Sunday. Visconti won the Jefferson Invite with a score of 71, beating the second place finisher by 5 strokes, and then he followed that up with a second place finish at HVCC, firing a 77 to finish out of first by 3 strokes.

On Friday at the Elms Golf Club at Sandy Creek, Herkimer finished 2nd overall as a team, just 7 shots in back of Cayuga. Erik Smith (McGraw, NY) shot an 83, which was good for 7th place individually and Collin Williams (Newport, NY) was right behind with an 84 for an 8th place finish. Jacob Darling (Dolgeville, NY) followed with a 93 with Jacob Hazlett (Fort Plain, NY) adding a 94, Trey Randall (Mohawk, NY) scoring a 98 and Anthony Giuliani (Amsterdam, NY) carding a 99 to complete the Generals second place effort. 

Sunday afternoon took the Generals to Frear Park GC in Troy, NY for the Hudson Valley Invite. The Generals carded a 336 which was good for a 4th place team finish. In addition to Visconti's second place finish with a 77, Smith and Hazlett each carded an 85 while Williams had an 89 on the day. Giuliani and Darling scored 97 and 98 respectively to complete the Generals effort.

Next up for the golf team is a trip to Western New York this upcoming weekend to take part in the Jamestown CC Invite on Friday, followed by the Niagara CC Invite on Saturday morning. These will be the last two regular season matches for the Generals before Region III Championship competition.
