Ireland Coaches Association National Coach of the Year

HERKIMER, NY – Over the weekend Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach Jamie Ireland added NJCAA Coaches Association National Coach of the Year to his list of awards from the 2015 season, recognized for putting the program back on the map with a national ranking.

Ireland – a former national champion at Herkimer College – completed his best season in his fourth year. His team received a national ranking by the second week of April after the Generals handed #7 SUNY Delhi a 10-6 loss at Wehrum Stadium, replacing the Broncos the following week as the seventh best team in the nation in the process. Their nationally ranking remained into the offseason, finishing as the ninth best team in the nation thanks to an overtime win over the very same Broncos in the Region III Quarterfinal to claim Ireland’s first playoff win.

The team’s on-field success achieved the program’s 27th Mountain Valley Conference Championship but also included seven All-Conference, one Conference Player of the Year and three All-Region members.

“This acknowledgement is truly an honor,” said Ireland. “2015 was a great year for Herkimer Lacrosse! We could not have had the success we had without my assistant Kiel Adams or each and every member of the team.”
