Former General Hill signs with Knighthawks
HERKIMER, NY – Former men’s lacrosse player Marty Hill (Six Nations, Ontario), an All-Region and Conference Midfielder of the Year recipient while at Herkimer College, recently signed a one-year deal with the Rochester Knighthawks of the National Lacrosse League (NLL).
Hill played offense and defense for the Generals, helping in whatever way he could to make the program successful. “As soon as Marty put on a Herkimer practice jersey, you would find him putting others in positions to be successful on the field,” said former Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach Rich Dommer.
After playing for the Generals, Hill was initially drafted by the Knighthawks in 2010, but found himself winning the Canadian Lacrosse League’s Creator’s Cup with the Ohsweken Demons in 2012 and Mann Cup with the Six Nations Chiefs in 2013.
It wasn’t until recent while playing for the Demons as a transition man that Hill got the call to play for the Knighthawks. It was his intelligence and ability to play offense and defense that prompted Rochester to sign him.
Tomorrow Hill will bring his special skill set and energy to Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, NY and play the team which game him his first playing experience in the NLL, the Buffalo Bandits. The Bandits have Captain David Brock leading their offense. Brock is a former two time All-American for the Generals.
“Marty will be fine at the professional level,” reiterated Dommer. “I have no doubt he will have an impact right away for the Knighthawks, a team who has won the NLL championship the last three seasons. I wish him the best, and hope his family and community enjoys his talent!”
Game time on Saturday, January 31st is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
