#2 Generals open season with big win over SUNY Adirondack
Herkimer, NY - Using a balanced scoring attack that saw 7 different players score goals, the Herkimer Generals Men's Soccer team opened the Fall 2021 regular season with an 8-1 win over the SUNY Adirondack Timberwolves on Wednesday night at Wehrum Stadium. The Generals, ranked #2 in the latest NJCAA Division III National Poll, scored 4 goals in each half to secure the Mountain Valley Conference win.
Max LaRosa (Spencerport, NY) got the scoring started for the game and season for Herkimer, as he tallied a goal at the 28:50 mark to give the Generals a 1-0 lead. Nichlas Kamfjord (Sandnes, Norway) gave Herkimer a 2-0 lead just 5 minutes later. Logan Kilgallon (Corby, England) scored 2 goals in just over 8 minutes late in the first half for the 4-0 halftime lead.
The Generals showed no let up in the second half as goals by Jugad Boparai (Raelingen, Norway), Ikiel Collins-Brown (Monroe, NY), Yamato Fujishima (Saitama City, Japan) and Heath Lucas (Chazy, NY) extended the Generals lead as they cruised to the 8-1 final. Ali Somow (Utica, NY) added 3 assists in the big win.
Herkimer now has 11 days off before hosting Jamestown Community College on Saturday, Sept 11th at Wehrum Stadium. Game time is set for 1:00 PM.
