Men’s Soccer not fazed by current road trip

SARANAC LAKE, NY – The Men's Soccer team traveled to North Country Community College Wednesday, scored two goals in the first half, and prevailed with the 3-0 win over the Saints, pushing their current win streak to six.

Herkimer (6-0) had their first goal of the game come from a different connection than usual. Triston Henry (Scarborough, Ont.), this week's Region III Athlete of the Week, saw one of his kicks from the net bounce over the North Country defense, right to Jermaine Windster (Rotterdam, Holland) who scored in the 15th minute to put Herkimer up 1-0.

Windster again found the net before the end of the first half (43rd minute), when Jimmy Calderon (New Rochelle, NY) dribbled through the Saint defense and put a perfectly placed ball in the cross box, giving the Generals a two goal lead (2-0).

The final goal combination came from James Wilson (Woodford Green, England) and Windster in the 44th minute. The Generals used a give-and-go, which started and ended with Wilson at the top of the 18 to give Herkimer the win 3-0.

Helping the Generals to their fourth shutout of the season was Henry and Austin Santor (Chazy, NY). Herkimer, who has outscored opponents 21-to-1 in their last five games, saw Henry save five shots in 80 minutes and Santor save three shots in 10 minutes.

Herkimer's next game is against Bryant & Stratton College (NY) on Saturday. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
