Windster earns hat trick against Cougars

PLATTSBURGH, NY – Scoring six goals in the first 25 minutes of play, and 17 in their last three games, Herkimer cruised to a 9-1 win over Clinton Community College Sunday.

The Generals (5-0) were again led by Jermaine Windster (Rotterdam, Holland) who managed the first hat trick of the season for Herkimer. The feat, accomplished in the first 19 minutes, came from Jimmy Calderon (New Rochelle, NY) at 9:24, Matthew Clinton (Manchester, England) at 12:47 and Peter McAvoy (Dundee, Scotland) at 19:31.

Windster also added an assist to teammate Isaiah Kossinne (London, England) in the 24th minute, which put the Generals up 6-1. Ending the route was Kyle McCarthy for Clinton. McCarthy scored past Triston Henry (Scarborough, Ont.) in the 39th minute (6-1).

Other goal scorers on Sunday were James Wilson (Woodford Green, England), Calderon, Preston Higgins (Port Chester, NY), Rafael Dos Santos (Danbury, CT) and MacIntyre Felton (Vestal, NY).

Wilson scored on a Clinton assist (5:21), Calderon scored on a Brian Coyt (Port Chester, NY) assist (15:01), Higgins scored on a Mitsuru Takayashiki (Morioka, Japan) assist (55:03), Dos Santos scored on a Simon Hernandez (Venezula-City: Caracas) assist (60:55) and Felton scored on an assist from Takayashiki (86:15).

In the net for Herkimer was Henry and Austin Santor (Chazy, NY). Both goalies played a half, with Henry saving four and Santor saving two. Henry will again look to start another shutout streak this season. He had three consecutive shutouts until the goal scored on Sunday.

The Generals next game is Wednesday (9/25). North Country Community College will host. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
