Brown gets second hat trick in conference win over Raiders

HERKIMER, NY – Righting the ship after a loss to SUNY Adirondack during the week, the #2 Herkimer Generals men’s soccer team defeated Fulton-Montgomery at Wehrum Stadium Saturday (9/12) 10-0.

Herkimer (4-2, 1-1) had three players score multiple goals. They were Ocasio Brown (Discovery Bay, Jamaica), Milano Kuku (Springfield, MA) and Kevin Van der Slik (Zoetermeer, Holland). Brown collected his second hat trick of the season on assists from Kuku, Charlie Simpson (Dalgerty Bay, Scotland) and Chris Cornwill (Sunshine Coast, Australia) in the 41st, 64th and 81st. Kuku got his on assists from Brown and Emmanuel Nelson (Schenectady, NY) in the 43rd and 59th; and Van der Slik got his from Nelson and Kuku in the 13th and 59th. Brown leads the team with six goals, followed by Van der Slik’s five and Kuku’s four.

Maans Soerensen (Stockholm, Sweeden), Nelson and Cornwill were the other Generals to net goals. Sorensen got the action started in the ninth minute, giving Herkimer the 1-0 lead on an assist from Eddie Speed (Chester, Liverpool). It was Maans first career goal as a General, helping Herkimer lead at halftime 4-0.

Nelson and Cornwill notched goals in the second half, in the 47th and 76th. Nelson’s was unassisted, while Brown’s second assist of the game allowed Cornwill to score his first career goal as a General.

Up next for Herkimer is Tompkins-Cortland Community College (TC3). The Generals will travel to play the Panthers on Wednesday (9/16). TC3 is 2-1-1 in their last four games, losing 6-0 most recently to Genesee. Kickoff on Wednesday is 7 p.m.
