Generals lose close one at Cayuga in season opener

Auburn, NY - Freshman Markia Peak (Rochester, NY) scored 19 points as the Herkimer Generals Women's Basketball team opened their season with a tough 54-51 loss to Cayuga Community College on Thursday evening in Auburn, NY. Clinique Robinson (Catskill, NY)  added 13 points and Myjoi Adams (Pomona, CA) chipped in with 10 points in the losing effort. 

The Generals jumped on the Spartans early, grabbing a 10 point lead at the end of the first quarter and then leading at the half by a score of 26-19. Cayuga came out of halftime with a big third quarter, outscoring Herkimer 18-10 to take the lead 37-36 going into the 4th quarter. The game went back and forth before Cayuga pulled ahead in the last minute to secure the win.

Herkimer takes to the road once again as they travel to Plattsburgh, NY on Sunday afternoon to take on the Clinton Community College Cougars in their Mountain Valley Conference opener. Tip for the game Sunday is set for 1:00 PM.
