Herkimer Generals Win Home Opener

Herkimer NY- The Herkimer Generals women's basketball team won 75-62 over the Cayuga CC Spartans for there season opener last night. The Generals controlled the game the whole night, from the first quarter on. 

The Generals were led by Sophomore guard Kapri Bradshaw (Uniondale, NY) who led the Generals in scoring with 18. Bradshaw chipped in with 4 rebounds, 5 steals and 5 assists. Freshman Jenna Faulkner(Otego, NY) and Nazjae Howard(Syracuse, NY) both turned in double-doubles for the Generals. Faulkner finished with 10 rebounds, 2 assist and 5 blocks while Howard finished with 14 points and 16 rebounds. 

First year head coach Matt Hazzard noted "For our first game of the year, it was great to see the team come together to get the win. We overcame some foul trouble and we could have panicked, but we were able to gather ourselves and hit some big shots down the stretch." The win marks Hazzard's first of his collegiate coaching career and it moves the Generals to 1-0 on the season. 

The Generals are back in action Wednesday when they travel to Mohawk Valley CC for a 5:30 start.
