# 4 Herkimer and Hudson Valley battle to 2-2 tie

Herkimer, NY - Kristen Purcell (Sauquoit, NY) scored her second goal of the game with 14 minutes remaining as the Herkimer Generals and Hudson Valley Vikings battled to a 2-2 tie on Wednesday night at Wehrum Stadium. The game will go down as a tie in the record books but Herkimer won 4-2 on PK's to get the advantage for Regional Seeding purposes at the end of the year.

The Generals, coming off their first loss of the season and ranked # 4 in the latest NJCAA Division III Women's Soccer Poll, went out to the early lead as Purcell scored her first goal of the game 10 minutes into the first half off an assist from Sarah George (Dolgeville, NY). Hudson Valley tied it with 10 minutes left in the first half and took the lead 42 seconds into the second half before Purcell put home the tying goal, this time with Ashley Capron (Burnt Hills, NY) getting the assist. The two teams battled through two ten minute overtime sessions before setting for the tie and going to the penalty kicks to determine the tiebreaker, if needed, at the end of the year.

The SUNY Broome Hornets are next up for the Generals as they will play at 12:30 on Saturday, Sept 29th at Wehrum Stadium.
