Herkimer takes on Jefferson in Breast Cancer Awareness Game

Watertown, NY - The Herkimer Generals traveled to Watertown yesterday to take on the Jefferson Cannoneers in a Breast Cancer Awareness game. The ladies didn’t take long to find their scoring form as Kristen Purcell (Sauquoit, NY) cleaned up a rebound from a Maddie Renshaw (Herkimer, NY) shot in the 9th minute for a 1-0 lead. Jefferson weathered the storm for a little but Herkimer would find the back of the net in the 37th minute when Alyse Griffin (Camden, NY) found Sarah George (Dolgeville, NY) for the finish. Two minutes later the tandem of Purcell & Renshaw would hook up again as Renshaw played a great through ball to Purcell for her second of the match and a 3-0 lead which they took into the half.

Five minutes into the 2nd half Renshaw tallied her own goal courtesy from another Griffin cross. In the 57th minute George found Ashley Capron (Burnt Hills, NY) for the 5-0 lead. The Generals would cap off the scoring in the 72nd minute when Purcell found George who slotted it home and a 6-0 final. Jordan Zaccagnino (Cherry Valley,NY) recorded the shutout and registered 3 saves.

The Generals are back in action as they wrap up their regular season schedule against Finger Lakes at Canandaigua High School on Tuesday, Oct 16th at 4:00 PM
