Herkimer Women's Soccer gets # 4 Seed in Region III Playoffs
Herkimer, NY – The Herkimer men’s and women’s soccer teams have qualified for the Region III Soccer Playoffs and will host a Region III semifinal doubleheader on Thursday, October 25th at Wehrum Stadium. The winners of the games that take place on Thursday will advance to the Region III Championships on Sunday, October 28 at Tompkins-Cortland Community College.
The men’s team, who ended their regular season with a record of 14-1 and are ranked #4 in the latest NJCAA Division III poll, earned the #2 seed in the playoffs and will host the #7 seeded Fulton-Montgomery Raiders on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. The winner of that game will then play the winner of the #6 Finger Lakes and #3 Cayuga matchup on Sunday, October 28 at Tompkins-Cortland Community College. In their matchup on September 8th, Herkimer defeated FMCC by a score of 7-1 in Johnstown, NY.
Herkimer’s women’s team grabbed the #4 seed in the regional playoffs and will host the #5 seed Hudson Valley on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. The Generals and Vikings battled to a 2-2 tie on September 26 in Herkimer. The winner of this game will also play on October 28 at Tompkins-Cortland Community College against the winner of the game between #1 Erie Community College and #8 Corning/#9 North Country. The Generals finished the year with a record of 11-3-1 and a ranking of #9 in the latest national soccer poll.
