Syracuse, NY and Glens Falls, NY - The Herkimer Generals Women's soccer team improved to 4-0 with 2 road wins against Region III opponents this past week.

On Thursday night, Aug 29th, the Generals traveled to Syracuse to take on the Onondaga Lazers to open Regional play. But sophomore forward Kristen Purcell (Sauquoit, NY) would eventually find the net midway through the first half off a Tayler Clark (Poland, NY) through ball. Just a under a minute later Purcell would strike again this time with the assist coming from Emily LeBlanc (Morrisville, NY). It would stay that way going into the half but the Generals came out firing again netting a third goal just two minutes into the second half. Keara Blumenstock (Poland, NY) would spring Naudia Lockett (Schenectady, NY) for what would be the final goal. The Generals continued the barrage but the Lazers defense would keep it at 3-0. Jordan Zaccagnino would record the shutout with 5 saves. Coach Palkovic said after the game, “It’s a good start to our regional schedule. Onondaga is usually tough at home. So to come here and get a shutout win to start regional play is great.”
