Herkimer gets road win at Finger Lakes

Canandaigua, NY - The Herkimer Generals Women's Soccer team used 2 goals in each half to defeat the Finger Lakes Lakers by a score of 4-0 on Friday afternoon in Canandaigua. The win evens the Generals record to 2-2 for the Spring 2021 season.

Kayla Suppa (Oneida, NY) got the Generals on the board by scoring the first goal of the game just 7:46 into the contest. Hailey Traut (Frankfort, NY) tallied the next two goals for Herkimer, scoring with 2:39 left in the first half and then again with 15 minutes left in the game to make it 3-0. Hannah Spofford (Dolgeville, NY) capped off the Generals scoring with a goal with 1:17 left in the game. Kurstin Gay (Herkimer, NY) recorded her second straight shutout in goal for the Generals, making 5 saves on the afternoon.

The Generals, ranked #5 in the latest NJCAA Division III National Poll, returns home to Wehrum Stadium on Tuesday afternoon, May 11th for a huge matchup against #10 Genesee Community College. The winner of this game will advance to the Region III Championship Game on Friday May 21. Game time for Tuesday is set for 3:30 PM.
