Generals drop Region III Final to Hawks

Herkimer, NY - In a battle of nationally ranked teams that decided the Region III title, the #3 Mohawk Valley Hawks came back from a 1-0 halftime deficit to defeat the #4 ranked Herkimer Generals by a score of 4-1 on Friday night at Wehrum Stadium to claim the Region III Championship. The loss drops Herkimer's record to 3-3 for the Spring season.

At the end of a back and forth first half, Kayla Suppa (Oneida, NY) gave the Generals a 1-0 on a goal with just 4 seconds left in the first half. But the Hawks came back quickly, getting 2 goals from Region III Player of the Year Reilly Rich to take a 2-1 lead early in the second half and then pulling away for the win.

Suppa and Emma Bilinski (Dolgeville, NY) made the Region III All Tournament team for the Generals. Herkimer now awaits to see if they will receive an At-Large bid to take part in the 2021 NJCAA Division III National Championships held at Union County College in Cranston, New Jersey from June 2-5. With a bid, the Generals would qualify for the National Tournament for the 4th year in a row under Head Coach Jason Palkovic.
