JAMESTOWN, NY – Scoring their highest amount of goals to date this season, the Herkimer Generals women’s soccer team netted five goals on Saturday (9/6) against Jamestown Community College, defeating the Jayhawks 5-1 to remain undefeated on the season.

Herkimer (3-0, 0-0) got contributions from Danielle Nicosia (Oneonta, NY), Teigha Ward (Ilion, NY) and Nicole Doolen (Ilion, NY). The first goal was scored by Nicosia on an assist from Danielle VanName (Newport, NY) in the eighth minute, giving Herkimer a lead which would not be relinquished. Within a minute of Nicosia’s goal, Ward scored her fifth goal of the season to make it 2-0 in the 9th.

Jamestown stopped the bleeding with a goal to make it 2-1, but the Generals managed two more goals before intermission to make it 4-2. Ward’s second goal of the game made it 3-1 and Doolen’s first goal of the season made it 4-1.

In the second half, Nicosia netted her second goal of the game and season in the 51st minute unassisted, making it three unanswered goals for the Generals.
