Herkimer Softball earns two wins at the NJCAA national tournament

Rochester, MN-- The Herkimer Generals won their first two games at the National tournament this afternoon.  To start off their journey Herkimer faced the seventh seeded Itasca.  Herkimer defeated Itasca 11-0 in five innings.  Big sticks for the Generals in this game were leadoff hitter Taylor Fry (Gasport, NY) who went two for three and scored one run.  Also Utica, NY native Alexis Ramos went three for three, with one RBI and three runs scored.  Driving in three runs was nine hitter, slapper, and a thorn in the Itasca defense, Paige Crittela (Syracuse, NY) went three for three with three RBIs and two runs scored.  

In the circle for the Generals winning her 16th game of the season was freshman Keeanna Wolcik (Syracuse, NY).  Wolcik with her defense behind her left Itasca scoreless, with just four hits, and 10 strikeouts.  Herkimer defeated Itasca in five innings 11-0.  Herkimer then advanced to play Rowan College of Gloucester County.  For a full box score including full game play by play please follow the LINK.

In the circle game two versus the Roadrunners of Rowan College was sophomore lefty Casey Boltersdorf (Levittown, PA) who pitched the first five innings giving up four hits, no runs, and struck out five.  Coming in to finish it was Wolcik who needed just three outs to allow the Generals to advance to the next level of the winner's bracket.  Wolcik struck out the first two batters and forced a groundout to Ramos to finish the game ahead 9-0 at the end of the sixth.  

Herkimer's dynamic offense was lead again by Taylor Fry who went three for three, while adding a steal to the books.  Two-hitter Shannon Moore (Norwich, NY) went two for three with two runs batted in.  Jackie Gardner (Syracuse, NY) made a statement today hitting line drive after line drive going two for four with one run batted in and two runs scored.
