Herkimer Softball opens Region III play with sweep of Jefferson CC

Two Pitchers Team Up as Herkimer College Generals Defeats Jefferson in Shut-Out

Herkimer College Generals defeated Jefferson 19-0 on Tuesday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Hunter Vanarnum struck out Courtnee Denton to finish off the game.   Herkimer College Generals was boosted by Jennah Hogan who went 4-for-4 at the plate. Hogan singled in the second, doubled in the third, singled in the fourth, and tripled in the fifth.  Herkimer College Generals got things moving in the first inning. Herkimer College Generals scored one run when Morgan Sgarlata singled.  Herkimer College Generals put up five runs in the fifth inning. Vanarnum, Hogan, and Madisyn Butler powered the big inning with RBIs.   A single by Mallory Harter in the third inning was a positive for Jefferson.

Keeanna Wolcik earned the victory on the pitcher's mound for Herkimer College Generals. She surrendered zero runs on one hit over three innings, striking out six and walking one. Vanarnum threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.  Courtney LaFlesh took the loss for Jefferson. She lasted four innings, allowing 16 hits and 14 runs while striking out four.

Herkimer College Generals collected 21 hits. Hogan, Taylor Zaino, Shannon Moore, Butler, Katelyn Stubbs, Brooke Snyder, and Alicia Swavely each collected multiple hits for Herkimer College Generals. Hogan went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Herkimer College Generals in hits.

Four RBI Day for Brooke Snyder Seals the Deal in Herkimer College Generals's Victory Over Jefferson

Herkimer College Generals defeated Jefferson 21-2 on Tuesday thanks in part to Brooke Snyder, who drove in four runners. Snyder drove in runs on a double in the first and a double in the third.   Herkimer College Generals secured the victory thanks to 14 runs in the first inning. Herkimer College Generals offense in the inning was led by Snyder, Jennah Hogan, Keeanna Wolcik, Julianna Finnerty, Maria Dinigro, and Shannon Moore, who all drove in runs.

Jefferson got things started in the first inning. Rachel Trumble singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

Alicia Swavely took the win for Herkimer College Generals. She lasted three innings, allowing one hit and one run while striking out two. Snyder threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.   Courtnee Denton took the loss for Jefferson. She allowed five hits and five runs, walking zero.

Herkimer College Generals racked up 23 hits. Moore, Snyder, Biz Toscano, Wolcik, Madisyn Butler, and Hogan each had multiple hits for Herkimer College Generals. Moore led Herkimer College Generals with four hits in four at bats.
