Herkimer Softball scores 24 runs in sweep at Lackawanna College

Scranton, PA -  The Herkimer Generals Women's Softball team scored 24 runs in doubleheader sweep of Lackawanna College on Sunday afternoon in Scranton, PA. The wins, 14-3 in six innings in Game 1 and 10-3 in Game 2, gives Herkimer a nine game winning streak and raises their record to 17-5 for the 2019 campaign.

Natasha Holt (Melbourne, Australia) and Julianna Finnerty (Pulaski, NY) were the hitting stars for the Generals in Game 1 as Holt went 2 for 4 with a home run and 5 RBI's while Finnerty went 2 for 3 with 4 RBI's that included a 3-run HR in the third inning to help the Generals pull away. Brianna Hoskins (Washington Township, NJ) added a home run of her own while going 2-4 with 3 RBI's. Kali Puppolo (Adams, MA) got the win on the mound for Herkimer, striking out 4 and walking none in 5 innings of work. 

Game 2 was a tight game as the Generals took a 4-3 lead into the seventh inning before exploding for 6 runs in the top of the 7th to secure the win and the sweep. Jessica Johnston (Brussels, Ontario) paced Herkimer's attack by going 2-4 with a home run and 4 RBI's. Mariah Galletta (Oswego, NY) went 3-3 with 2 RBI's and a solo HR in the 5th inning. Taylor Betz (Cheektowaga, NY) earned the win on the bump for the Generals, going 5 innings and striking out 8. 

The #2 Nationally Ranked Generals continue their road trip with a doubleheader scheduled for Tuesday in Watertown, NY against Jefferson Community College. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
