# 3 Generals sweep four games from rivals Monroe and Corning over the weekend

Clinton NY and Herkimer NY - It was a great weekend for the # 3 Herkimer Generals softball team as they battled weather conditions, as well as two rivals, to sweep 4 games and run their winning streak to 13 in a row. On Saturday, the Generals took two from Monroe Community College by scores and 8-0 and 15-3 and then coming back Sunday to defeat Corning Community College by scores of 6-2 and 7-0. The wins lift Herkimer's overall record to 36-6 overall as they enter the final week of the regular season. 

On Saturday, the Generals had to move their games against Monroe CC to Hamilton College in Clinton, NY and came out quickly against the Tribunes by scoring 3 in the first and adding 4 in the 6th inning to close out the game. Taylor Zaino (Newport, NY) was the spark plug for Herkimer, going 3-3 in the leadoff spot. Brooke Snyder (Suntee, CA) went 2-3 with a solo home run in the 4th inning while Natasha Holt (Melbourne, Australia) and Aubrey Ketchum (Otisville, NY) also each had 2 hits apiece in the win. Kali Puppolo (Adams, MA) continued her strong sophomore campaign, allowing 3 hits and striking out 10 in her six innings of work. 

In Game 2 on Saturday, the Generals bats broke out in a big way, scoring 15 to close out the Tribunes in 5 innings. Snyder went 3-3 with 3 RBI's. The top 3 hitters in the Herkimer order which included Zaino, Makenzie Keeler (Jamesville, NY) and Vani Patel (Eastvale, CA) went a combined 6 for 9 with 10 runs scored. Taylor Betz (Cheektowaga, NY) threw 3 innings while allowing 2 hits and striking out 4. Jessica Johnston (Brussels, Ontario) came on to pitch 2 hitless innings while striking out 4. 

The scene switched back to the Herkimer College softball field on Sunday as they hosted the Red Barons from Corning CC. In the Game 1 6-2 victory,  Keeler went 2 for 4 with 3 RBI's including a 2 run homer in the 5th. Zaino, Patel, and Snyder each had 2 hits as the Generals had 10 hits on the game. Puppolo went the distance, scattering 4 hits and striking out 10 to get the win. 

Betz was the story in the Game 2 win as she threw a no hitter in the 7-0 victory that was stopped after 6 innings due to weather. Betz struck out 7 and walked only 2 while tossing the no hitter. Patel and Zaino each went 3-4 with Patel knocking in 3 runs and Zaino scoring 3. Julianna Finnerty (Pulaski, NY) went 2-2 with 2 RBI's. 

The Generals now hit the road to start the final week of the regular season, as they will travel to Finger Lakes Community College on Tuesday and SUNY Adirondack on Wednesday. Game times for both doubleheaders will start at 3:00 PM.
