Four Herkimer College Softball Players named NJCAA Division III All Americans
Herkimer, NY – Herkimer College had four student-athletes from the 2019 softball team named NJCAA All-Americans. Kali Puppolo (Adams, MA), Jennah Hogan (East Greenbush, NY) and Vani Patel (Eastvale, CA) were named NJCAA Division III 1st team All-Americans. Taylor Zaino (Newport, NY) was named to the NJCAA Division III 2nd team.
Puppolo, a sophomore pitcher, went 17-3 on the year with a 1.98 ERA and struck out 142 batters in 113.1 innings. Puppolo will be attending NCAA Division I Manhattan College in the fall.
Hogan, a sophomore designated hitter, hit .540 on the season with 11 home runs and 78 RBI’s and led the Generals with a 1.000 slugging percentage. Hogan will be attending NCAA Division II Chowan College in North Carolina in the fall.
Patel, a freshman infielder, led the Generals with 12 home runs and 82 RBI’s in 2019. She also hit .526 and had a slugging percentage of .922.
Zaino, a sophomore outfielder, led the Generals with 65 stolen bases and 94 runs scored in her leadoff spot in the order. She hit .454 and had an on base percentage of .585 on the season.
Herkimer finished the 2019 season with a school record 48 wins and a 2nd place finish at the 2019 NJCAA Division III National Championships in Rochester, Minnesota.
