Herkimer, NY - The Herkimer Generals Softball team improved their record to a perfect 12-0 on the season with 13-4 and 9-1 sweep of the Cayuga Community College Spartans on Saturday afternoon, April 10th. Herkimer remains ranked #2 in the latest NJCAA Division III National Poll.

Madison Ihnat (Boca Raton, Florida) notched another win on the bump for the Generals, going 6 innings and while allowing 4 runs and striking out 7.

Hannah DeRock (Hunt, NY) got the Game 2 start for the Generals, as she went all 5 innings and scattered 5 hits and only allowing 1 run. DeRock was the beneficiary of a 5 run first inning for Herkimer, that gave them a lead they never relinquished. Garrison continued her torrid streak at the plate, going 2-3 while Kourtney Ketcham (Otisville, NY) went 2-4 with 2 RBI. Maiya Reinhart (Batavia, NY) only had one hit, but she made it count, smashing a home run and collecting 3 RBI's in the game.

The Generals Sunday doubleheader at Falcon Park in Auburn against Cayuga was postponed, with the reschedule date still to be determined. Herkimer is now scheduled to take the field again on Saturday, April 17th as they will host SUNY Adirondack at 1:00 PM at the Herkimer College softball field.
