Generals win pair from Finger Lakes

Canandaigua, NY - The Herkimer Generals softball team traveled to Canandaigua on Saturday afternoon for a Region III doubleheader with Finger Lakes CC and came away with two convincing victories. HCCC scored 24 runs on 24 hits and made only one error in the twin bill.

The Lakers and Generals had met once before this season, during the Snowbird Softball week in Myrtle Beach, SC. Herkimer won that contest also, by a score of 10-1.

Game One

The Game One victory was an 11-1 run-rule shortened game that saw the Generals pound out 14 hits while getting another impressive performance from Toni Secreti in the circle. Secreti pitched six innings, giving up only one earned run while scattering just five hits. She walked only one batter while striking out eight Lakers.

Secreti got plenty of offensive support as Jessica Patterelli led the way with a single, double and triple while driving in three runs. Stephanie Siriano also had three hits. She stroked two singles and pounded her fourth home run of the season. Delaney Buckley got into the act with a triple and single, while Tina Karaqi also contributed two hits, highlighted by a deep double to the wall. Courtney Gumprecht hit safely twice while Samantha Smaldone added a double as well.
