Softball takes two on the road against Twins

HUDSON, NY – Scoring double digits in runs in their second doubleheader of the season, the Herkimer Generals softball team defeated Columbia-Greene on Thursday (4/16) by a combined 23-to-4, winning game one 12-1 and game two 11-3.

Herkimer (14-7) had Dana Nicoletti (Syracuse, NY) and Brittany Ormond (New Paltz, NY) start each game, Nicoletti in game one and Ormond in game two. Nicoletti earned her fourth win of the season, allowing one run on one hit in five innings pitched. As for Ormond, the sophomore got her foruth win of the season, allowing one run on three hits in four innings of work.

Relieveing in the doublheader for the Generals was Shania McEvoy (Middleville, NY). The freshman came in relief of Ormond in game two, allowing two runs in one inning of work.

Coming through for Herkimer at the plate was Lindsey Parese (Herkimer, NY), Karintha Myslivecek (Redfield, NY) and Elyssa LeBaron (Corning, NY). Parese and Myslivecek did well in game one with both players collecting two runs batted in. Parese went 2-for-3 and Myslivecek went 2-for-4. As for LeBaron, she went 2-for-4 with three RBI and a home run. It was her second round trip of the season, and it ended the game due to a eight-run rule.

Up next for the Generals is Tompkins-Cortland Community College. Herkimer will travel to play the Panthers on Saturday, April 18th. Game times are 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
