Softball collects 24th consecutive win in sweep of Lakers

CANANDIAGUA, NY – The Herkimer Generals softball team took two games from Finger Lakes Community College on Friday (5/1), defeating the Lakers 12-1 and 12-0.

Helping the Generals (28-7) to their 24th consecutive victory was Amy Hart (St. Johnsville, NY) and Shania McEvoy (Middleville, NY). Both freshman threw five innings for the complete game, with Hart allowing one earned run and McEvoy allowing zero.

On the offensive side, Herkimer collected double digit runs to sweep a doubleheader for the fifth time this season. Helping the Generals to those totals was 28 total hits. Making the most use of those hits was Elyssa LeBaron (Corning, NY), Kayla Bancroft (Fort Ann, NY) and Hannah Potter (Pulaski, NY). LeBaron had five runs batted in, Bancroft had three and Potter had two. LeBaron went 4-for-6, Bancroft went 3-for-6 and Potter went 1-for-3 in the doubleheader.

Herkimer’s next game is against Onondaga Community College on Saturday, May 2nd. Game times are 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
