Generals successful in doubles against Timberwolves

QUEENSBURY, NY – In their third consecutive away match in five days, the Herkimer Generals women’s tennis team visited SUNY Adirondack Friday afternoon (9/19), losing to the Timberwolves 8-1.

Herkimer (0-4) had each of their singles matches lost in two games. Karen Kanno (Chiba, Japan) and Jordan Mercer (Oneida, NY) fought valiantly, but were unable to defeat Adirondack’s Morgan Holbrook and Melanie Marino.

As for doubles, Mercer and Emilee Lanz (Oneida, NY) took their second straight match in doubles this week, defeating Marino and Nicole Cirelli 8-6.

The Generals next match is today (9/20). They’ll travel to take on Broome Community College at 1 p.m.

4th Singles: Nicole Cirelli (ADK) def. Mayuko Suzuki (HERK) 6-2, 6-1

5th Singles: Alex Campbell (ADK) def. Doyoung Noh (HERK) 6-1, 6-0

6th Singles: Anita Bozel (ADK) def. Sam Suarez (HERK) 6-0, 6-1

1st Doubles: Holbrook & Orozco (ADK) def. Kanno & Suzuki (HERK) 8-0

2nd Doubles: Lanz & Mercer (HERK) def. Marino & Cirelli (ADK) 8-6

3rd Doubles: Campbell & Kolaicla (ADK) def. Noh & Suarez (HERK) 8-1
