HERKIMER, NY – With an extra day of rest due to a postponement over the weekend, the Herkimer Generals women’s tennis team came into Monday’s match against Onondaga Community College well rested. With fresh legs, the Generals defeated the Lazers 5-4, winning their final match of the regular season.
Herkimer (1-8, 0-5) split singles with Onondaga, taking second, third and sixth. Winning in second singles was freshman Jordan Mercer (Oneida, NY) 6-4, 3-6 (10-6). She too went an extra set, defeating Lazers’ Holly Glor 6-4, 0-6 (10-5) for her first singles victory in nine matches.
Then in doubles, both Mercer and Lanz won their four doubles match of the season, defeating Haley Everts and Rachel Parrillo, helping Herkimer take the match with help from a forfeit to come out on top over Onondaga.
