Generals Volleyball Defeats Vikings

Last Wednesday the Herkimer Generals Volleyball team traveled to Hudson Valley to take on the Vikings.  The first game of the match was a back and forth battle, but the Generals prevailed winning it 25-23.  The Vikings struck back taking one away from us in the second game.  We were defeated 19-25.  However our ladies held their composure and won the third game 25-18.  Herkimer led Hudson Valley two games to one and needed just one more to finish as the victors.  The Vikings didn’t make it easy as the final game of the match had to be played to an extra point.  But Herkimer came away with the win defeating Hudson Valley in the final game 26-24.

Herkimer Generals Volleyball Defeats Cayuga Spartans at POD Tournament

Saturday (9/24) women’s volleyball competed in a POD Tournament hosted by Cayuga Community College against the Onondaga Lazers, #2 Jefferson Cannoneers, and the tournament hosts, Cayuga Spartans.  Herkimer started off the day trailing after after two losses that morning against the Lazers and Cannoneers.  But that afternoon they rallied together to leave the tournament victorious.  Herkimer earned the first set in a back and forth battle as they defeated the Spartans 25-22.  The Generals led even more success in the second game over Cayuga winning 25-11.  However the Spartans fought back and earned one set 25-18 as they prevented the shut-out.  It only took one more game for the Generals to take the win as they defeated the Spartans 25-17 in the fourth and final set of their afternoon.

This weekend the Herkimer Generals volleyball team competed in a POD Tournament hosted by Corning Community College.

Volleyball takes first win over Saints

Wednesday night’s match up versus the North Country Community College Saints turned out to be Herkimer’s best night on the court so far this season.  The Generals showed to be a powerhouse on the night defeating the Saints by double digits in every game.  A few key players for Herkimer included #6 Alexandra Maunz (Marcy, NY) and #17 Carolyn Alford (Little Falls, NY) who dominated the serve, racking up 10 aces each.    The team also produced an overall total of 17 kills, seven of which came from freshman middle hitter #12 Alex Jones (Canastota, NY).  The Herkimer Generals now look to continue their success in this weekend’s POD Tournament hosted by #5 Corning Community College.
