Herkimer Volleyball goes 2-1 at Mohawk Valley POD Matches

Utica, NY - The Herkimer Generals had a successful day at the Mohawk Valley POD tournament on Saturday in Utica. The Generals took 2 out of 3 matches to improve to 9-6 on the season. 

Their first match was with Onondaga Community College, which the Generals won 3-0 with scores of 25-12, 25-7 and 25-21. Next they played Jefferson Community College losing 0-3 with scores of 9-25, 13-25, and 16-25. Rounding out the day they played against Cayuga Community College winning 3-0 with scores of 25-10, 25-15 and 25-12.

The following Herkimer Players had standout performances for the day:

 Kerissa Marquissee (Mohawk, NY) had 2 kills, 7 assists, 5 aces, 33 digs and 5 blocks.

Evonna Mower (Jordanville, NY) had 15 kills, 1 assist, and 16 digs

Abigail Elisofon (Waterloo, NY) had 4 kills and 5 digs

Kiara Cherry  (Poughkeepsie, NY) had 4 kills, 39 assists, 1 ace, 20 digs and 3 blocks.

Brittney McManus (Herkimer, NY) had 3 kills, 6 aces, and 26 digs.

Kayla Suppa  (Oneida, NY) had 6 aces and 46 digs 


The Generals now turn their attention to a showdown with Mountain Valley Conference rival SUNY Adirondack on Thursday, Sept 3 at Glens Falls High School at 7:30 PM. Herkimer and SUNY ACC are both undefeated in Conference play with Thursday's winner taking over sole possession first place in the MVC.
