Herkimer Volleyball splits 2 matches to open 2021 Season

Herkimer, NY and Johnstown, NY - After 22 long months, the Herkimer Generals Volleyball team finally got back out on the court.

The Generals opened their 2021 season with a split of 2 matches against Mountain Valley Conference opponents. On Thursday evening, Sept 9, Herkimer hosted Hudson Valley CC and won 3-0 before traveling to Fulton-Montgomery on Sunday afternoon, Sept 12 and dropping a 3-0 decision to the Raiders.

In Thursday's home opener, the Generals cruised to the three set sweep by scores of 25-13, 25-14, and 25-13. Brittany McManus (Herkimer, NY) had 5 kills and 5 digs, Marcella Seaton (Utica, NY) had 1 kill, 7 assists, 6 aces, and 4 digs while Kayla Suppa (Oneida, NY) had 4 aces and 13 digs.

In Sunday's road contest in Johnstown, Suppa had 22 digs and Sianna Kenyon (Ilion, NY) had 8 assists and 8 digs but it wasn't enough as FMCC dealt Herkimer their first loss of the year.

The Generals (1-1) have 6 days off before their next contest as they will travel to Queensbury, NY on Saturday, Sept 18 to take on rival SUNY Adirondack. Game time is set for 12 Noon.
